What we've been up to EDiT (M-NET) Emerging Dynamics in Television (EDiT), an M-Net educational initiative, and Mobfest, have launched a call to all young creative talent: produce a made for mobile TV series, and win R500 000 in production funding to bring their brainchild to fruition. “We don´t care if it´s drama, comedy, reality - or just plain whacko, so long as it´s suitable for broadcast on a mobile phone,” states the EDiT website (www.mnet.co.za/edit). All submissions will be showcased on the site, and viewers are able to comment on each piece and vote for their favourite entry. Advancement into the next round of selection is based on the popularity of the pilots and the opinion of the 15-member strong judging panel. Round two sees 20 producers each receiving R15 000 to produce a further 5 minisodes – which will again be put out to the public for voting. The winner will not only receive the R500 000 in production allowance, but the full backing and expertise of the M-Net marketing and production teams.
